Our Vision

In connecting People, place, identity we will seek to educate ourselves and others on understanding how our societal practices are impacting on the interconnected health of tāngata and taiao. We acknowledge this will require using different knowledges to understand our interconnectedness with, and relationship to, Papatūānuku. We will endeavour to think innovatively, apply a ‘landscape lens’ and to act with greater respect for the notion of kaitiakitanga and kotahitanga.

We will not be constrained in our thinking. Whilst the Landscape Foundation seeks to nurture Papatūānuku first and foremost, we will not be incumbered by the construct of geographic constraints, as all whenua and moana are connected.

We see it as our responsibility to reach ngā hau e whā with regards to this kaupapa, from grass roots communities to policy makers, and everyone in between.

We recognise that fulfilling Ngā Moemoeā o Te Papa Tū Whirinaki may mean working towards shifts of power and privilege in society, and we accept this wero.
